Comprehensive Refurbishment and Technical Upgrade of Winergy PEAB 4456.6 to 4456.8

Professional "Plug-and-Play" refurbishment of a 2.3 MW Winergy gearbox, featuring a technical upgrade to the 4456.8 standard, black oxide bearing protection, and certified full-load testing.

We successfully completed a complex refurbishment and technical modernization of a Winergy PEAB 4456.6 gearbox, upgrading it to the more robust PEAB 4456.8 standard for the Siemens 2.3 MW wind turbine platform. This project demonstrates Wikov’s ability to not only restore equipment to original condition but to enhance its performance and reliability through engineering-led upgrades.

The overhaul involved a complete teardown and a forensic inspection of all internal components. To ensure maximum durability against White Etching Cracks (WEC), we performed a full bearing exchange using premium black oxide coated bearings. All gear stages were meticulously checked, with precision reworks or replacements executed to guarantee an optimal contact pattern. The unit was outfitted with a new electrical oil pump, a new lubrication block with advanced filtration, and a reworked braking system. After undergoing rigorous load testing to verify its performance under real-world conditions, the gearbox was professionally painted and delivered in a plug-and-play condition, ready for immediate installation into the nacelle to minimize operational downtime.
