Comprehensive "Plug-and-Play" refurbishment of a 2.3 MW Winergy gearbox, featuring black oxide bearing upgrades and full-load verification for maximum reliability in Siemens turbines.
We executed a complete industrial-scale refurbishment of a Winergy PEAB 4456.8 gearbox, a core component of the Siemens 2.3 MW wind turbine platform. Given the high dynamic loads and demanding environment of wind energy generation, our goal was to return the unit to a condition that meets or exceeds original OEM specifications.
The overhaul involved a meticulous teardown and inspection of all internal components. To ensure superior resistance against white etching cracks (WEC) and moisture, we performed a full bearing exchange using premium black oxide coated bearings. Our engineering team thoroughly assessed the gear geometry, performing precision reworks where necessary to guarantee an optimal contact pattern. Beyond the core internals, we supplied a new electrical oil pump, a new lubrication block with high-efficiency filters, and integrated a professionally reworked brake system. The gearbox was delivered in a plug-and-play condition, fully painted and ready for immediate nacelle installation, significantly reducing the turbine's downtime.
