We executed a specialized on-site inspection and technical diagnostic of a Siemens SST-060 gearbox, a vital component in power generation infrastructure. With a rated power of 1,621 kW and an input speed of 3,280 rpm, this parallel shaft unit demands absolute oil purity and precise bearing tolerances to maintain efficient energy output.

During the forensic examination, Wikov specialists identified micro-scratches on the sleeve bearings. Our analysis revealed that these were caused by micro-steel particles circulating within the lubrication oil—a common but dangerous condition that can lead to catastrophic bearing seizure if left unaddressed. We performed a detailed measurement of the sleeve bearings to ensure they remained within strict operational tolerances and carried out a comprehensive cleaning of the entire lubrication system. This intervention not only stabilized the gearbox’s mechanical health but also protected the asset from accelerated wear, ensuring long-term operational reliability for the power plant.
