Advanced Vibration Diagnostics and Inspection of L. KISSLING & CO. Gearbox

Utilizing state-of-the-art modal analysis and vibration spectrum monitoring to identify critical bearing wear in a 75 kW perpendicular shaft gearbox, ensuring long-term drive stability.

We conducted a specialized on-site technical inspection of an L. KISSLING & CO. VKS-415 FR gearbox, a robust perpendicular shaft unit operating within the power transmission sector. With a rated power of 75 kW and a significant reduction ratio of 32.341:1, this gearbox is a key component where mechanical health directly impacts operational efficiency.

To go beyond a standard visual check, our service team employed advanced vibration diagnostics and modal analysis. By analyzing the vibration spectrum, we performed a "forensic" look into the internal dynamics of the unit. The results clearly identified early-stage wear on the bearings of the input pinion shaft. Based on these precise findings, Wikov recommended a targeted exchange of the bearings to prevent a potential catastrophic failure. This predictive maintenance approach allowed the client to schedule repairs during a planned window, avoiding the massive costs associated with unplanned downtime and ensuring the continued reliability of the transmission system.
