So far, Wikov has been missing a professional facility for testing heavy gearboxes of up to 70 tons. This is changing now as Wikov has started building a new testing facility. It will use the basic testing fundament from past projects, but everything around it will be new. A complete hall with a crane with a loading capacity of up to 80 tons, a washing station, a paint shop, and a loading section for lowboy trailers will be built. This will solve the high logistical requirements for the testing and packaging of such heavy gearboxes. The main impulse for this construction was a new contract for gearboxes for Chinese wind turbines, which should be implemented in the second half of 2019.
The total amount of the investment is estimated at CZK 17 million and the construction itself is planned to be completed by the end of June this year.
