Wikov Industry acquires Gmeinder Getriebe Gruppe
Expanding its presence in rail vehicle business, Wikov Industry a.s. has signed an agreement to acquire 100% stake in Gmeinder Getriebe Gruppe (GGG), a privately held manufacturer and maintenance/service provider of gearboxes for rail vehicle market.
GGG manufactures gearboxes and motor-gear units in particular for locomotives, trams, special purpose vehicles, commuting trains and regional transportation vehicles. It is also well-equipped provider of service, maintenance, overhauls and upgrades of complete gearboxes and their components.
GGG employs more than 100 staff within five companies – GGT Gmeinder Getriebetechnik AG, Gmeinder Getriebe- und Maschinenfabrik GmbH, Gmeinder Getriebeservice GmbH, GGM Gmeinder Management Gesellschaft and GIG Gmeinder Immobilien Gesellschaft. The whole Gmeinder Group becomes part of Wikov family since March 27th 2019. The acquired companies will further operate under the brand Gmeinder, which is a valuable brand to be further developed in the market.
Gmeinder Group shall focus on supply of customized gearboxes for specific projects and in service and overhauls of railway vehicle gearboxes of all brands. Wikov and Gmeinder shall utilize their mutual synergies regarding productive manufacturing of components, in house heat-treatment facilities, state of the art load testing facilities and rapid product development based on extensive know-how exchange.
