Special gearbox with tilted dividing line for Howden's experimental lab

Howden's laboratory in Pilsen serves to Howden CKD Comressors for experimental verification of parameters of centrifugal compressor radial stages in developing process. The turbomachinery is driven by AC electric motor of 1,2 MW power with frequency convertor for speed control and a highspeed gearbox designed and manufactured by Wikov in Pilsen. The RUB 396 is an atypical gearbox with tilted dividing line due to built-in conditions between the electric motor and the turbocompressor.

The turbomachinery can be controlled in the range of 3.000 to 18.000 revolves per minute. Around 180 signals of physical volumes is monitored during a test. The results are evaluated and compared to the calculated assumptions.
